The value of IPR cannot be measured directly, which causes a serious measurement problem. Value can be categorised as social value or business value. Others identify three main value concepts. Owner value, market value and fair value. Since valuation is a complex and highly specialised area, experts should be used in IP valuation.
There are a growing number of methodologies for the assessment of Intellectual Capital (IC ) at the organisation level. The fact that the list is growing continuously is a testament of the difficulty and the tenacity with which the pioneers in the field have tackled this subject.
