In the experimental study, Taguchi method, a powerful tool in the design of experiment is used to optimize the parametric combination of CNC-Wire cut-EDM for effective machining of Al-SiC MMC. From experimental results and through analysis of variance (ANOVA) the significant factors are determined for favorable gap current (Ig). Mathematical model relating to the gap current is established using Gauss elimination method for effective machining of AI/SiC-MMC. Confirmation test results show that the developed mathematical model is appropriate for effective machining of AI/SiC-MMC and the determined optimal combination of CNC-Wire cut-EDM parameters can also satisfy the real requirement in practice.
