ANN Application for Wire Erosion Rate Analysis in Wire-EDM Process

In this paper an artificial neural network model has been developed to analyse the wire erosion rate, the ratio of material removal rate to wire wear rate in wire-EDM process. Experiments were conducted by machining Mild steel, OHN steel and HCHCr steel using bare brass wire and zinc coated brass wire as tool materials. SEM and EDAX results are analysed to study the wire erosion rate in EDM process. The predicted ANN values are in agreement with experimental results and are helpful in the study of the EDM process.
