Optimization of CNC-Wire Cut EDM parameters during Machining of AI/SiC-MMC based on Robust Design

In the experimental study, Taguchi method, a powerful tool in the design of experiment, is used to optimize the CNC-Wire cut-EDM parameters for effective machining of Ai-SiC MMC. From experimental results and through analysis of variance (ANOVA) the significant factors are determined for metal removal rate. Mathematical model relating to the machining performance of WEDM is established using Gauss elimination method for effective machining of AI/SiC-MMC. Confirmation test results show that the developed mathematical model is appropriate for effective machining of Al/SiC MMC and the determined optimal combination of CNC-Wire cut-EDM parameters can also satisfy the real requirement in practice.
