27th March 1962 commemorates a significant event in the history of machine tool industry in India. Central Machine Tool Institute, an industry oriented research & development organization was establishedat Bangalore, by the Government of India, to equip the country with machine tool design &development capabilities.The Government of Czechoslovakia provided technical assistance and a gift of machineries through ‘VUOSO’, the research institute for machine tools and machining, based in Prague.
