Water Conservation in Sugar Industry
Sugarcane hot water balance shows that the water content of sugarcane itself is more than sufficient for internal processing. Surplus internal water is available for external use. By recycling, reuse and good house keeping, external consumption can be minimized. The polluted water is treated by anaerobic digestionactivated sludge process- pressure filtration and activated carbon. The treated water is recycled to reservoir to utilize for factory cleaning, washing, cooling water make-up, colony, gardening and irrigation. Alternatively, wastewater is made zero through bio-composting.
