Metal cutting is a machining process in which a finished surface of desired size, shape, accuracy or finish is obtained by separating the excess layers of material in the form of chips with the aid of a wedge-shaped device called cutting tool. For metal cutting, it is important to optimise surface finish, workpiece accuracy, tool-life monitoring and high productivity.
