Overuse of antibiotics has resulted new strains of bacterial pathogens that are resistant to the antibiotics used to combat them. Many plants have been used for centuries by traditional healers and may have antibacterial properties. Methanolic and Aqueous extracts from the seeds of Cassia tora were investigated for their antibacterial activity. Both methanolic and aqueous extracts were studied using a method, which involved the determination of Zone of inhibition. The methanolic extracts exhibited significant antibacterial activity. Ofloxacin was used as standard reference. The antibacterial activity of methanolic and aqueous extracts of Cassia tora has therefore been demonstrated.
