An Assessment of Lung Functions in Relation to Body Surface Area
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Introduction: Due to technical developments, the function of lung may also be assessed simply and logically and with a reasonable prospect that the results from different laboratories will both agree and interpreted similarly.
Objective of the study: To know the ventilator status of the subjects as a whole in reference to different body surface areas.
Material and methods: Body surface area was calculated by taking into the account of height and weight of the sampled individuals. A total of one hundred eighty five subjects of both sexes were included in the study.
Variables: Eleven variables were taken into consideration for the study purpose.
Results: FEV.5/FVC% and FEV1/FVC% showed decline in their values with increasing body surface area in males in contrast to their female counterparts.
Conclusion: Most parameters except FEV.5/FVC% and FEV1/FVC% showed rise in their values with increasing Body Surface Area.
