Plant Profile of Ficus religosa:A Review

Ficus religosa Linn. (Family; Moraceae) is used in traditional system of medicine for the treatment of several disorders. It is one of the herbs mentioned in all ancient scriptures of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy. Various plant parts such as bark, ischolar_main, leaf, fruits and latex are used as astringent, Diarrhoea, diabetes, haemoptysis, carminative, vermifuge and anti-dysentery. It is a good remedy for excessive appetite. It is used locally to relieve inflammation of skin wounds, lymphadenitis, in sprains and fibrositis.
