Metal Catalyzed Oxidation of L-Arginine by Alkaline KMnO4:A Kinetic and Mechanistic Study

Metal catalysed oxidation of Arginine by Potassium permangate in highly basic medium were studied spectrophotometrically over the range 20< t< 30° C, I= 0.5,2x10-4 < oxidant 9x10-4 mol/dm3, 1x10-7 < catalyst< 5x10-7 mol/dm3. The reaction is 1st order with respect to the oxidant, substrate and catalyst. The activation parameters were calculated and tabulated.
