Backyard Poultry Farming:A Source of Sustainable Income for Rural Household

Backyard poultry farming is the main enterprise of rural areas of the country. Out of the total poultry population 30% are reared under backyard poultry system. It provides income and employment to large number of people in rural areas especially women folk. Thus in order to improve socio economic status of rural farm women of district Budgam there is need to popularize the backyard poultry farming in the region and replace these low producing breeds with high egg laying breeds like Vanraja, Kroiler etc.
