A correlation between thermal conductivity (λ) and ultrasonic velocity (u) of liquid has been made. Using the density (ρ) and ultrasonic velocity data for liquids Ar and Kr, the values of λ have been calculated at different temperatures. It is interesting to note that the excellent agreement between experimental and theoretical values is found for both the liquids.

Abstract

A correlation between thermal conductivity (λ) and ultrasonic velocity (u) of liquid has been made. Using the density (ρ) and ultrasonic velocity data for liquids Ar and Kr, the values of λ have been calculated at different temperatures. It is interesting to note that the excellent agreement between experimental and theoretical values is found for both the liquids.
