Correlation Between Activity Coefficient and Equivalent Conductance of Aqueous Solutions of Electrolytes Through Ultrasonic Measurements
Ultrasonic velocity, density, and viscosity of aqueous solutions of Cobaltous chloride and Zinc chloride for various concentrations up to saturation are measured at various temperatures ranging from 15°C to 55°C. from these measurements internal pressure, and free volume of aqueous solutions of cobaltous chloride and Zinc chloride are computed. Activity coefficient is computed from internal pressure and the values of arbitrary constants. The correlation between activity coefficient and equivalent conductance is carried out and the results are interpreted. It is found that the linear variation in the case of cobaltous chloride solutions and non linear variation in the case of solutions of Zinc chloride. It is explained on the basis of equivalent conductance.
