Motivation and Job Performance:A Comparative Study among Pharmacists

This comparative study is survey based descriptive research. The objectives of this research are to identify and differentiate the factors affecting motivation in the context of organization structure and policy and pharmacy profession and also to examine and compare impact of lack of motivation on job performance of pharmacists working in single-speciality hospitals and multi-speciality hospitals in Tirunelveli city, Tamilnadu. The study has sampled 60 pharmacists using judgement sampling technique after they were stratified into two groups; namely, pharmacists working in private multi-speciality hospitals and pharmacists working in single-speciality hospitals using stratified sampling technique. Primary data have been collected by means of selfprepared questionnaires and analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The results of the study has shown that there has been no major difference in perception of majority of the pharmacists working in both kinds of hospitals towards most of the factors affecting the motivation and impact of lack of motivation on job performance and their perception level has also been at medium level.
