As William Shakespeare has rendered his answer for this interrogation, this world is a stage and all the mortal players are experiencing their own entrances and exits1. The writings of numerous writers have revolved around this motif. Anita Desai is one such novelist whose novel, Clear Light of Day (1980) exuberates the normal life of human beings, particularly it webs with the intricacies of female characters and their psychological perspectives.
