Mental Health Status among Government and Private School Teachers

Mental Health is the ability to balance feelings, desires, ambitions and ideas m one's daily living situations. It is the ability to face and accept the realities of life. The present study aims at assessing the mental health status of men and women of two different age groups(i.e., 30-39 yrs and 40-49 yrs) working m Govt., and private schools. The major objectives of the study are(i)To assess the mental health status of male and female teachers;(ii)To assess the mental health status of two different age groups and (hi) To assess the differences m the mental health of teachers working m Govt., and private schools. Mental Health Inventory developed by Jagdish and Srivastava (1983) was administered to 60 men and 60 women. Data was analysed using appropriate statistical techniques to assess the differences related to type of institute, gender and age with regard to the Mental Health of teachers.
