Relationship between Social Skills and Mental Health of Female College Teachers

The present research explored relationship between social skills and mental health of female college teachers. Mayer and Salovey's (1997) Ability Model of Emotional/Social Intelligence was used as a theoretical framework for this research. The purposive sample was comprised of 212 female college teachers within the age range of 25-45 years with minimum educational level of Masters. The sample was drawn from all public colleges of Lahore city, Pakistan. Results suggest that there is a significant positive relationship between social skills and mental health of female college teachers. The findings of this research have implications for learning of adequate social skills, which may promote mental health of female college teachers in Pakistani society.
