Mother-Adolescent Perception of Problems of Eighth Class Students Studying in Government and Public Schools

The present investigation was conducted to get an insight into mother-adolescent perception of problems of eighth class students studying in Government and Public schools. The study was carried out in Chandigarh on a sample of 100 adolescents (50 from Govt. schools + 50 from Public schools) comprising of equal number of boys and girls and their 100 mothers. Student Problems Inventory developed by Badami (1977) and its modified version were used to measure perception of problems of adolescents and their mothers, respectively. The findings revealed that Govt. school adolescents perceived more problems related to self and self image as compared to Public school adolescents. It was also found that adolescents and their mothers differed significantly in the perception of problems related to family and education. Mothers perceive lesser problems related to their adolescents as compared to adolescents themselves.
