Job Involvement of Working Women in Relation to their Social Maturity

This study has been designed to assess the job involvement of working women and to find out the relationship between the working women's job involvement and their social maturity. The dependent variable is job involvement of working women and the independent variable is working women's social maturity. In addition to these psychological variables the study also includes few personal variables. To assess the working women's job involvement "Job Involvement Scale" by Singh (1989) was used. This scale consists of 40 items and all items are in the form of statement. Social maturity was assessed using Social maturity scale developed by Roma Pal (1986). It contains 50 statements. It measures three dimensions of social maturity viz., Personal adequacy, interpersonal adequacy and social adequacy. Using simple random sampling procedure, 75 women were selected from ten organizations. The sample includes women teachers, women from IT profession and unskilled women workers. Out of 1000 questionnaire given to the employees only 680 were returned. Results indicate that working women's social maturity influences their job involvement. Working women's monthly income and mode of stay influences their job involvement. Birth order does not differ in their job involvement.
