Data Mining, popularly known as Knowledge Discovery in databases is the automated or convenient extraction of patterns representing knowledge implicitly stored in large databases which solves the above problem. The study attempt to know what is data mining and why is it important. Deals about the basic concepts of data mining, its techniques and how work in digital atmosphere. Highlight the evolution of data mining and different types of step. Enumerates the problems associated with data mining in a digital ambiance.
