Rank/Rankl Factor in Periodontitis―A Review

Periodontitis is a multifactorial diseasewhich is definedas Inflammation of the supporting tissuesof the teeth. It causes progressively destructive changeleads to loss of alveolar bone and periodontal ligament. An extensionof inflammation from gingiva into the alveolar bone and periodontal ligament.Periodontal disease is bacterial host interface disease. One such factor which is thought to be of host modulating is RANK/ RANKL system. This review is about the periodontal panorama about the system which might be therapeutic modulation of periodontal disease.
