Factors Associated with Work Fatigue in Workers of the Nipah Building Construction Project Makassar

The International Labor Organization says almost every year as many as two million workers die from workplace accidents caused by work fatigue. Construction workers are one of the workers who have a heavy type of work. Working with heavy workloads and working hours beyond normal limits makes construction workers easily got fatigue. This study aims to determine the relationship of age of workers, length of work, work period, workload and nutritional status with work fatigue in construction workers in the Nipah building, Makassar. This type of research is observational analytic with a cross‑sectionalapproach. Data collection was conducted in December 2017 against 74 workers as samples taken by purposive sampling technique. Fatigue measurements were performed using a reaction timer, the work load using digital Omron, the nutritional status by Body Mass Index using scales and microtoice, and the length of work and work period using a questionnaire. Data analysis carried out was univariate and bivariate with test chi‑square. The results showed that there was a relationship between age of workers, length of work, work period, workload and nutritional status with work fatigue. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between age of workers, length of work, work period, workload and nutritional status with work fatigue in construction workers in the Nipah building, Makassar
