Clinical Crown Lengthening Procedure: Literature Update and Two Case Reports

Clinical crown lengthening procedures are used to enhance aesthetics and /or provide adequate tooth structure for placement and retention of the restoration while respecting the attachment apparatus. When restoration margins extend beyond biologic width, inflammation and anatomic changes can develop. This article will outline the theoretical concepts underlying crown lengthening procedure, an overview of the indications and contraindications for it and two case reports clinical crown lengthening procedures.
