Comparison of Median Motor Nerve Conduction Velocity in Dominant and Non-Dominant Hand of Normal Individual

The cross sectional observational study design is used to study the effect of limb dominance on the median NCV of forearm segment. 30 healthy volunteers (20 Female, 10 Male) with the mean age of 23 yrs (20-26yrs) participated in the study. Edinburgh handedness inventory was used to assess the laterality of subjects. Median NCV for the forearm segment was calculated for each upper limb of 30 subjects. Comparing median NCV between dominant and non-dominant hand of right handed subjects showed no significant difference. Similar results were obtained for left handed subjects. It is concluded that limb dominance has no significant effect on median NCV.
