Comparison of effects of Isometric Contraction of Various Durations on Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Methodology: One hundred subjects were recruited in the study, 50 males and 50 females. Each subject was asked to perform three Isometrics contractions by push-up exercise for different time intervals of 5sec, 10sec and 15sec and the Blood Pressure was measured.
Result: There was a significant increase in values of Systolic Blood Pressure after all the Isometric contractions but Diastolic Blood Pressure demonstrated insignificant change. Also, no significant difference was found between the effects of three contraction durations on SBP and DBP.
Conclusion: The isometric contraction leads to increase in the Systolic blood pressure but Diastolic blood pressure does not change significantly.
