Triamcinolone Acetonide Phonophoresis versus Transcutanous Electrical Nerve Stimulation in the Treatment of Post-burn Pruritus - A Randomised Controlled Study
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Methodology: Forty patients with post burn pruritus participated and completed the study. The patients were randomized into two groups of equal number. TAP group: received Triamcinolone Acetonide Phonophoresis, and TENS group received Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation.
Results: Revealed a highly significant differences pre and post treatment in TAP and TENS group as regard to degree of pruritus ( p values < 0.05 ). Also the results of the study revealed no significant differences between both groups post treatment ( p values > 0.05 ).
Conclusion: We concluded that triamcinolone acetonide phonophoresis as well as transcutanous electrical nerve stimulation may prove to be a useful modality for the treatment of post burn pruritus with no significant differences between them.
