Effect of Pulsed Ultrasound using Ketoprofen Gel in Children with Chronic Haemophilic Synovitis of the Knee Joint

Materials and Method: The study was conducted on 10 children in the age group of 4-14 years with chronic haemophilic synovitis of the knee joint. They were evaluated pre- and post-intervention for intensity of pain, ROM and functional activity along with swelling diameter. They received pulsed ultrasound with ketoprofen with following parameter intensity of 1.5W/m2, pulsed mode, 1:1 ratio, frequency 1 MHz for 8 min/day for 15 days.
Results: Intra group analysis was done for the Visual Analogue Scale using Wilcoxon Signed Rank test with mean reduction 0.86±0.63. The mean increase in ROM was 3.11±2.69 and in Lower Extremity Functional Scale was 1.2±1.08 which was statistically significant (p
Conclusion: Pulsed ultrasound with ketoprofen gel helps in reducing pain, increase ROM and improves functional activities of daily living in children with chronic haemophilic synovitis of the knee joint.
