Prevalence and Referrals for Physiotherapy in Patients of Hysterectomy in Rural Hospital in Nagpur

Aim: "To know the prevalence of hysterectomy in Lata Mangeshkar Hospital during Nov- 2011 - Nov-2012." "To know referral about physiotherapy in patient who have undergone hysterectomy in hospital during Nov-2011 - Nov-2012."
Materials and Method: Cross sectional survey was undertaken in rural hospital in Nagpur, Maharashtra state, India from patients' records during Nov- 2011 to Nov-2012. Age, histopathology, type of surgery, post operative stay in hospital and referral for physiotherapy among patients, was collected.
Result: The prevalence rate of hysterectomy is 35.5% and referral for physiotherapy is 71.31%.Most of individual who underwent for hysterectomy was suffering from genital prolaps. It is of concern that the fertile age group i.e. 21-30 years also had undergone for hysterectomy.
Conclusion: Hysterectomy is still widely performed procedure even in rural hospital in Nagpur. And about 71.31% of their cases were referred for post operative physiotherapy.
