Relation between Shoulder Muscle Peak Torque and Duration of Computer Work in Office Workers
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between duration of daily computer use and shoulder muscle peak torque.
Materials and Method: Thirty male subjects aged between 25-33 years old were selected from the employees of physical therapy. They were assigned into two equal groups: group A of fifteen computer users who used computer for at least 2 hours per day, group B of fifteen non-computer users who do not use computer at all. All subjects underwent isokinetic measurement of peak torque for two muscle groups (flexors and abductors) in concentric/concentric mode at two angular velocities (60?/sec and 180?/sec).
Results: The results was revealed for both muscle groups and at both angular velocities that peak torque of both muscle groups was found negatively correlated with duration of daily computer use.
Conclusion: It was concluded that there is a negative correlation between duration of daily computer use and muscle performance.
