Reliability of 20 Meter Shuttle Test and Rockport one Mile Walk Test for Measuring Vo2 Max
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Background of Study Vo2max is measure indication of physical fitness, so for measuring vo2max we have two method direct and indirect method, Direct method is very sophisticated and not possible everywhere, So most of the time indirect method is used, Purpose of Study The purpose of this study is to find out both the indirect test (20mst and Rockport one mile walk test) is reliable method for measuring vo2max. Procedure After selecting 60 subjects of mean age 21.4+ 1.84 years. All subject performed first 20mst on ground, the data was collected on shuttle and level, and the vo2max was calculated and same subjects performed Rockport one mile walk test on treadmill. The same protocol was repeated for same subjects after 1 week. In this study ICC and STANDARD ERROR OF MEASUREMENT is used Results The Rockport one mile walk test shows the average 51.849 and standard deviation of ±2.869 and 20 meter shuttle test average 36.813 and standard deviation of ±10.463,The mean value also less than the initial reading, after performing ICC (Intraclass correlation coefficient) standard error of measurement on SPSS Version (16),2006 Conclusions On the basis of result, we conclude that Rockport one mile walk test is more reliable in comparison to 20 meter shuttle test.
