Subscribe/Renew Journal
Introduction: The adjustment of the client through his or her occupation is the focus of occupational therapeutic treatment. This means adaptation of the individual to its environment as well as to the adaptation of the environment to individual needs. In this context the importance of living space and creative motivation of the client is examined against the background of the clients accommodation needs.
Method: The study follows 3 consecutive stages: client interviews, focus group and questionnaires. 10 clients and 8 occupational therapists were chosen to show two different perspectives.
Results: The results indicate high relevance of living space and living space design for the clients well-being. Creative occupation plays a vital role. Occupational therapists anticipate further special tasks in this area and develop new client-centred approaches.
Conclusions: Living space has individual importance for clients. Occupational therapists can implement this relevance in their practice.
