Mindfulness and Mindfulness-based Interventions: A Review Study

India, like many other countries, is facing a range of health issues and challenges such as breast cancer, reproductive health issues, and mental health issues, chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension and CVDs. These issues are being dealt by the government and policy makers however people must know how to address their issues related to overall well-being at individual level as well. One such approach is mindfulness, which if adopted as a part of lifestyle would help in approaching sustainable well-being among people. Researchers describe Mindfulness as a term that indicate the basic ability of human being to experience the present, be present in the moment and being aware of where we are and what we're doinga. Mindfulness is connected to positive outcomes related to mental health and well-being. The present paper discuss about two scientific and well researched mindfulness based therapies, i.e., Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) that involves mindfulness as a base combined with other scientific therapiesas an intervention package for the treatment to many psychopathological and physical health conditions. The inverventions based on mindfulness can help patients to deal with their physical and mental sufferings in a no pharmacological way, that is indeed a suatainable way of treating any ailment.
