Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Citizenship Behavior among College Teachers

This study was conducted with the objective to explore the relationship between emotional intelligence and organizational citizenship behavior. A total number of 110 college teachers working in difference colleges of Jamshepur were included as a sample. Emotional intelligence scale developed and standardized by Hyde et al. (2002)and Organizational citizenship behavior scale developed by Podsakoffetal. (1990) were administered on the selected sample. The obtained data were analyzed in the light of correlation and regression analysis. The computation was done in SPSS version 17.0. The result revealed that emotional intelligence and organizational citizenship behavior positively and significantly correlated. Further the result revealed that the result of the regression shows that organizational citizenship behavior can be predicted from emotional intelligence. The suggestions were also discussed.
