Accessing Electronic Journals by Using J-gate Database: An Experience at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science&Technology, Hisar

Electronic journals have become the major source of information for any university library in order to continue the research because of various benefits over printed journals. Libraries subscribe e-journals from various publishers/ aggregators/ societies/ universities etc. and for accessing the information, users need to go on respective URLs separately. To access information from various URLs on a single platform, J-Gate is one of the service from Informatics, Bangalore (India). The present paper describes the episode of the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar observed during the calendar year 2014. It explains the various features of J-Gate and its use by the users of the university library. The paper highlights monthly use of electronic journals from various publishers during the year 2014 and suggests the ways to improve the usage level. For Journal Finder- the database is best used in April and for Basic Search- its best use is made in December. Total 4931 hits have been observed for Basic Search and 153 hits for Advance Search.
