The Use of Emerald Management Database of Electronic Journals at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar

Electronic journals have now become the indispensable source of information for the researchers working in Research and other Institutes of Higher Learning. In the present scenario, no library can cater to the informational requirements of its users without the accessibility of electronic journals. Since the databases of electronic journals are very costly, there is need to evaluate the usage. The present study is an attempt to review the usage of Emerald databases of electronic journals. Month-wise usage of data from the year 2011 to 2015 have been compared with regard to articles downloaded. Journal of Intellectual Capital, Personnel Review, European Journal of Marketing, British Food Journal, and Employee Relations: The International Journal have been found the highly used 5 Journals. The study reports that 53781 articles have been downloaded during the spell of five years and more than 52% articles have been downloaded amongst first 32 journals. The usage is unfortunately decreased after the year 2012 and there is dire need of marketing the database and making the users aware. The suggestions for improving the usage level have been discussed.
