Study and Analysis of Solid and Hazardous Waste Generation in Paper/Paper Board Packaging Industry

Like every other industry, paper and paperboard packaging industry also produces waste. The Indian packaging industry is growing at a rapid rate with the increasing demand for highly specific and sophisticated product. The expanding middle class and rising income levels, the patterns of consumption are bound to change substantially and the demand for high quality and convenience based products is increasing day by day. Concurrently the increased global interaction and quality consciousness among the consumers have influenced the aesthetic and quality norms at a high standard. So in order to maintain the packaging industry in economy and to ensure that this industry does not pose threat to our fixture generation an intensive study was carried out to have a closer look on the waste generated in the paper/paper board packaging industry. After observing the different departments and the waste generated in them have been classifies into the two categories i.e. solid and hazardous wastes. The main aim of this paper is to give a systematic and organized details of the different kinds of waste generated in the paper/paperboard packaging industry so that they can be efficiently monitored and managed for reuse or disposal which is not only in the betterment of the society also for the industry.
