Developing Institutional Repository Using DSpace Software: An Experience at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar

The research in universities and other institutes of higher learning is available in digital format. This format is being given more importance because of reasons such- round the clock availability of information, easy to access, multimedia and multiuser access, no physical boundary, excellent searching techniques which are not available in print form etc. Efforts are being made at national and international levels to preserve the research in institutional repositories (IR). An effort made at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar has been discussed. IR shall definitely enhance the digital and copyrighted resources of any institute. IR has been proved as a value addition and prestige of any institute. The present paper shall help the library professionals to begin to create IR.
