Abstract

A burr is an undesirable projection of material formed in machined parts that makes handling as well as assembly of mechanical components difficult, and hence, it needs be subsequently removed, or its formation needs be suppressed to allow the parts to meet desired tolerances, thus, need of deburring will either not be required, or needed to a less extent. A brief overview of techniques to minimize formation of milling burrs is made in this paper.

Abstract

Weld cladding is a process of depositing thick layer of corrosion resistant material usually over carbon steel plates to improve its corrosion resistance properties and main problem faced in stainless steel cladding is 4he selection of process parameters for achieving the required clad bead geometry and its shape relationships Different categories of stainless steels are employed as the cladding material However, mechanical and corrosion resistant properties of cladded components depend on the clad bead geometry Therefore, it is essential to study the effect of process parameters on the bead geometry to enable effective control of these parameters Iron - aluminum-based weld cladding is also used as corrosion resistant coatings for boiler tubes in coal-fired power plants Although these alloys have excellent high-temperature corrosion resistance, Fe-Al weld cladding is susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement cracking at elevated aluminum concentrations Addition of chromium to iron aluminum alloys have been found to improve corrosion resistance, and could potentially increase the service life of the coating In this paper a brief review on this technique is presented.

Abstract

In this paper, we study the impact of MGNREGS on the beneficiaries and analyse potential management problems of the implementing agencies in Bardhaman, a relatively prosperous district of West Bengal. Analysis of official documents and primary data collection in all blocks over a period of three years indicates that Bardhaman has been successful in addressing the challenges of running the scheme. However, because of available alternative employment opportunities, conducting MGNREGS matching the Annual Action Plan is a serious challenge to the GPs. The local people look for less labour intensive schemes, and political parties pressurise Gram Panchayats to initiate popular errands which makes it difficult to match village needs with demands.

Abstract

Weld cladding is a process of depositing a thick layer of a material on a corrosion-, or erosion-, prone material to protect it from corrosion or erosion respectively. In this process, service life of the clad component increases substantially even under hostile conditions. In the present work, austenitic stainless steel cladding is done on low alloy steel specimens to make the clad components resistant to corrosion wearing under a chemically reactive environment. Corrosion-resistance characteristics of clad layer is explored along with its dependency on clad bead geometry, clad composition, etc. that are controlled by process parameters. It is, therefore, essential to select appropriate process parameters to obtain sound clad quality. Experiments are conducted on cladding with austenitic stainless steel on low alloy steel plates under varying conditions using gas metal arc welding. Performance of cladding is experimentally explored to find out suitable parameter combination to obtain high corrosion resistance. At 100 A weld current, 8.7 mm/s torch travel speed and 24 V weld voltage, minimum corrosion rate is seen, and hence, may be adopted in practice.
