An automated irrigation system is used to optimize water use for agricultural crops. The system has a distributed wireless network of soil-moisture and temperature sensors placed in the ischolar_main zone of the plants. In addition, a gateway unit handles sensor information, triggers actuators, and transmits data to mobile phone through GSM. The pesticide monitor unit uses a load cell sensor to measure quantity of the pesticide for the crop. An algorithm was developed with threshold values of temperature, soil moisture and load cell values which is programmed into a microcontroller-based gateway to control water quantity and pesticide. Analysis has been done to understand the crop production on a particular land and the requirement of water and pesticide for a particular crop is studied and the values are programmed into a microcontroller. Because of its energy autonomy and low cost, the system has the potential to be useful in water limited geographically isolated areas. Keywords

This paper features on implementing the governor control automatically in steam turbines in the boilers that can be used in power plants. It mainly focuses on controlling the speed of the PA, ID, FD fans. Thus the boiler parameters in the boiler are constantly monitored and the steam is generated according to the need. The automation can be easily done using Remote Terminal Units (RTU) or PLC (SCADA). The turbine speed can be controlled and monitored. The SCADA is used to monitor the system, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is also used for the internal storage of instruction for the implementing function such as arithmetic, counting, timing, sequencing and logic to control through digital or analog input/output modules various types of machines processes.

In the recent trends and emerging developments in energy production, it is very essential to monitor all the equipment frequently in a thermal power plant and comparative analysis is to be done to ensure safety and proper functioning of the entire system. Coal based thermal power stations are the leaders in electricity generation in India. As resources are not abundantly available, there is a need to optimize the wastage of energy. An attempt is taken to monitor various equipments such as boiler, Turbine, Coal and Ash Handling systems, boiler feed pump etc., and their performance is analyzed through SCADA. Equipments are monitored regularly for proper functioning and analyzed for improving parameters like performance, efficiency, etc., A special concentration is given to Condition Monitoring and Vibration Analysis of Boiler Feed Pump. Through this the security of equipments are ensured and wastage of energy is reduced.

The main criteria required for all the electrical and electronic device is the voltage. It plays vital role in a power quality. It is planned to provide a transformer with multiple taps and selecting the taps required for the moment will be automatically selected by the on-load changeover system which is operated by the controller. Computer acts as a controller with the aid of the C software. Voltage transducers are used to sense the voltage and ADC to convert into digital signals. These digital signals arte interfaced with computer which in turns operates the On Load Tap Changers (OLTC). Suitable taps are selected and its drive relays are operated by the computer through opto-coupler and switching transistors. Keywords

The programmable transducers can be used in the field of motor or generator protection. To overcome the error of existing system like overvoltage, under voltage and under frequency self aided programmable transducers are used. C based program is to be developed to interface the transducers and generator tripping device to the computer. The output devices are interfaced with the computer through specially designed drive circuits to energize the trip circuit of motor in case protection acts. The drive circuits consists of opto-coupler (for isolation purpose), switching transistors and PCB mounted small relays. The input circuit comprises of Transducers & A/D converter, the output circuit comprises of driving circuits for feeders. Audible alarms also can be generated through computer with the aid of buzzer circuits. The input and the output circuits are connected to the PC through an Interfacing card through pc printer port. All the transducers are connected to the PC through an A/D converter.

Control of liquid level in Interacting Two Tank Hybrid System (ITTHS) is highly challenging due to variation in the area of cross section. The modelling of such hybrid systems is different from the convention modelling techniques. Modelling and designing controllers for hybrid systems is an upcoming research area. This paper describes the modelling and control of such a highly non-linear system and also implementation of PID controller. The modelling of such hybrid systems is different from the convention modelling techniques. PID controller has been designed for this process application. Piecewise linearization technique was applied for linearizing non-linear system output. For all the five regions, separate PID controller has been designed and simulated using MATLAB. The performance measures of the system are tabulated.
