Acceptance single sampling plan is developed when the life test truncated for a pre-specified time based on product quality following Rayleigh distribution. The minimum sample sizes necessary to ensure the specified life time under a given customer's confidence level is determined for percentiles of Rayleigh distribution. The operating characteristic values of the single sampling plan are obtained and analyzed. Numerical example is provided to illustrate the selection of sampling plan.Keywords

Today we have an emerging concept called ECRM, a means for the companies to conduct interactive and personalized communications with customer. Companies whether they are manufacturing or are in the service, need to adopt right customer relationship strategies in order to survive in the competitive world. Banks are using ECRM tools for creating relationship with their customers. Bank employees are working with these tools and success entirely depends on the ways in which it is properly adopted and used by these employees. Objective: The present study was undertaken to investigate the glucose reducing level by Asystasia gangetica flowers with various doses (125, 250 and 500 mg/kg bw) in normal and streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. Methods: Acute and sub-acute toxicity of A. gangetica was evaluated in rats with various doses and its and serum parameters were analyzed. Diabetes was induced by giving streptozotocin (45 mg/kg bw) to the rats and after conformation of diabetes, A. gangetica flower ethanol extract (AGFEE) was administrated to the normal and diabetic rats for a period of 14 days. Body weight and glucose levels were determined after 7th and 14th day of the study. Glucose tolerance test was also carried out after administration of glucose at the rate of 2 g/kg bw till 14th day. Results: The LD50 of extract found to be higher than 2000 mg/kg bw and the extract did not show any significant changes in serum parameters. In blood glucose reducing activity the three doses showed significant lowering glucose levels, when compared with each doses at the dose of 250 mg/kg bw the AGFEE showed maximum activity. In diabetic control rats there was a significant elevation in blood glucose levels and reduction in body weight was produced and continued till the end of the study. No alterations were found in control and extract alone treated rats. Results showed AGFEE had exhibited significant hypoglycemic (glucose lowering) activity. Conclusion: Present in vivo model indicating that the plant extract contain active principle compound for the management of hyperglycemia.Keywords

The present study prepared aims to demonstrate the quality evaluation of roasted and germinated composite flours. Composite flour was prepared with wheat flour, maize flour, green gram flour and groundnut flour. Material balance method was followed to get the required proportions of flours. The samples of first batch were raw and considered as control flour. Second and third batch samples were roasted flour and germinated flour respectively. Roasting and germination were done by the standard methods. Proximate composition and functional properties were determined using the standard procedures.Protein content of germinated flour was significantly higher than other flours. Fat and carbohydrate were degraded significantly (p<0.05) during processing. On germination, the water absorption index increased significantly at 5 per cent level indicating the ability of flour to absorb water and an increase in the amount of soluble materials, which can be easily digested. Germination increased water absorption capacity, foaming capacity and solubility whereas roasting significantly affects bulk density, oil absorption capacity, swelling capacity and emulsi- fication capacity.The present study concludes that the composite flours have better qualities that could be harnessed by roasting and germination to meet nutritional requirements and recommended for incorporation in food preparations.Keywords

Drought stress is a serious constraint, especially in rainfed rice production, and breeding for drought tolerance by selection based on yield under stress, though effective, is slow Mapping quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for yield and its components under drought stress predominant in rainfed target populations of environment (TPE) will help overcome this limitation. In the present study, a subset of 143 F8 and F9 recombinant inbred (RI) lines derived from IR62266-42-6-2 (IR62266), a high-yielding indica ecotype and Norungan, a landrace from TPE, was used to map QTLs for yield and its components under drought predominant in TPE. A large effect yield QTL observed under drought stress in TPE was consistent across two years with a phenotypic variation of 31.3% and 37.9% and additive effect of 629.2 and 424.9 kg/ha Further, this region was fine-mapped to 94.0 kb with positive effect on grain yield under stress.Keywords

A Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is a collection of independent wireless nodes that can move randomly which forms a short-term network which has no fixed Infrastructure [8]. A MANET is a collection of mobile nodes connected by wireless links which can configure by itself. In Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, network partitioning or performance degradation occurs due to mobility of nodes. To minimize the performance degradation we go for replication techniques. These techniques consider that all mobile nodes co-operate fully, where as some nodes may co-operate partially or may not co-operate with other nodes and they are termed as selfish nodes. These types of nodes reduce the overall data accessibility. In order to preserve their battery selfish nodes won’t transmit data to others. Most of the existing research focuses on the network issues in a MANET. The main purpose of using a MANET is to provide well-organized data services to users replica allocation is also an important area to be focused. In previous methods some time link failure nodes are identified as selfish node. To overcome these issues a novel method is proposed where each node selects its neighbor nodes by considering low link failure rate, high contact probability and high remaining energy level. Then reliable neighbor scheme is applied to select nodes from its neighbors to replicate data. Here nodes are considered reliable which contribute more memory to neighbor nodes for replication of data items.

This paper presents the analysis of hybrid wavelet transform generation technique using two orthogonal transforms. The orthogonal transforms are used for analysis of global properties of the data into frequency domain. For understanding the local properties of the signal, the concept of wavelet transform is introduced. Wavelets are mathematical tools that can be used to extract information from many different kinds of data such as text and images. The proposed method considers the Hybrid Wavelet transform which can be generated by crossbreeding any two orthogonal transforms among four transforms such as Discrete Cosine transform (DCT), Discrete Walsh transform (DWT), Discrete Hartley transform (DHT) and Discrete Kekre transform (DKT). The analysis of the hybrid wavelet transforms is done by comparing them with the original orthogonal transforms with respect to Mean Square Error (MSE) and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio(PSNR) values. The experimental result increases the performance of Hybrid wavelet transforms than the original orthogonal transforms by maintaining both the compression rate and the quality in tolerable manner.Keywords

The popularity of multimedia applications has resulted in development of lossless and lossy compression techniques. This paper presents a novel lossy compression scheme for the Low Depth-of-Field (DOF) images where the quality factor is altered based on whether we are compressing object-of-interest (OOI) or the background. Low DOF is a popular photographic technique which enables the representation of the photographer’s intention by giving a clear focus only on an object of interest (OOI). We first describe a fast and efficient scheme for extracting OOIs from individual low-DOF images and then apply the lossy compression scheme with different quality factor on it. The proposed system does not require any user assistance to determine the initial OOI. The experimental results shows that the proposed method performs well in compressing the given image (higher compression ratio), at the same time maintaining the acceptable quality (high PSNR) and reduce the complexity.Keywords

The face processing research based on the premise that information about a user’s identity, state, and intent can be extracted from images, and that computers can then react accordingly. Gesture recognition aims at creating a system to convey information or for device control which can be identified by specific human gestures. Real-time vision-based hand gesture recognition is considered to be more and more feasible for HCI with the help of latest advances in the field of computer vision and pattern recognition. This survey papers deals with discussion of various techniques, methods and algorithms related to the gesture recognition and sheds information about Face detection. One of the natural way of communications is to use hand gesture which combines the emotions of human to real world. Hand gesture recognition has the various advantages of able to communicate with the Technology through basic sign language. Background/Objectives: An attempt has been made in the present investigation to assess the outcome of bamboo fibers on strength behaviour of FRSCC. An innovative natural plant bamboo fiber, having numerous benefits such as economical, low density, environmental-friendly, sustainable and biodegradeble. Bamboo fibers extracted by using mechanical method was used in this study. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Proportion of mix of SCC has been arrived by trial and error method. Nine trial mixes were investigated totally, keeping w/c quotient constant for all mixes and variation parameter is percentage of weight fraction of (0.25, 0.5, 0.75,1 and 1.25 %) of bamboo fibers (l/d ratio = 40) of 4.9 mm length to the weight of cement. Finally, 18 cubes, 18 cylinders and 18 beams casted, out of which 15 are BFRSCC beams, 3 are control beams without fibers made with SCC. Findings, Applications/Improvements: The outcome of using bamboo fibers in the strength behavior in compression, split tensile and the flexural had studied. The maximum enhancement in compressive and split tensile strength for 28 days was observed to be 43.2 N/mm2 and 6.9 N/mm2, hence optimum fiber content is 1% for aspect ratio of 40. The addition of bamboo fibers also make concrete much resistive in flexure and for 28 days maximum improvement was resulted 8.1 N/mm2, consequently addition of bamboo fiber content increases the flexural strength.Keywords

Background/Objectives: The study investigates that alccofine and GGBS combination can be used in the SCC as the strength enhancer. SCC being a high performance concrete after the addition of alccofine, produces a high performance and high strength concrete. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Mix design for SCC can be carried out by Nan-Su method which is considered as a simple mix design and the dosage of super plasticizer will be determined by trial and error as substantial result of characteristics of fresh and hardened concrete and effect of alccofine (5%, 10%, 15% and 20% by volume) by keeping the GGBS percentage constant (30%) on rheological properties and strength properties were investigated. Findings Applications/Improvements: The improvement in behaviour of SCC is because of enhancement in union strength and pore refinement by GGBS. The outcome implies that the workability of SCC with 5% and 10% alccofine by volume of concrete leads to decline of other rheological properties given by codal provisions (EFNARC). In contrast, the improvement in properties of concrete like compressive strength from 36.6 to 42.9 N/mm2, splitting tensile strength from 3.8 to 7.9 N/mm2 and flexural strength from 4.9 to 8.3 N/mm2 at 28 days was observed with increase in alccofine dosage. Finally the conclusion has been drawn that alccofine and GGBS combination can be used in the SCC as the strength enhancer.Keywords

Objectives: Public key cryptography helps in achieving information security in wireless networks. Public key will be issued by CA (Certificate Authority). But having CA in wireless network makes it vulnerable to various attacks. Hence distributed cache was proposed where each node in network caches public key of some nodes existing in network in its cache and request to obtain keys not cached will be made via trusted nodes. Due to limited memory only few keys can be cached. There exists an optimal threshold value for caching keys so that equal number of both local nodes and remote nodes public keys can be cached. Methods: Random replacement policy was used for updating cache contents, where if a node’s local/ remote key cached ratio exceeds optimal ratio then a key will be randomly chosen from the cache and will be removed. Here we propose implementation of bloom filter in cache to cache public key of nodes existing in network. Findings: By using bloom filter of large size, more number of public keys can be cached thereby providing space and time advantage and reduces query cost with increased usage of memory. MAC (Media Access Control) id and PSN (Processor Serial Number) are used for uniquely identifying each node in network and are stored in encrypted format. When mismatch is found in encrypted MAC id and PSN, then that node is determined to be malicious node and its id will be notified to all nodes in network thus excluding the node from making any communication to other nodes in the network. Applications: Used for checking an element’s presence in the set thus reducing I/O lookup when large data set is used. Used as an alternative to cache as it uses limited memory more efficiently than cache does.Keywords

Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) is a new but widely espoused method for finding images from enormous image databases. The need of content based image retrieval technique is in different domains such as medical imaging, crime prevention, weather forecasting, surveillance, historical research and remote sensing. This paper presents the content based image retrieval, using texture and color features. The different features are extracted and the effectiveness of content based image retrieval can be increased. The proposed system has confirmed a faster retrieval method on a COREL image data base and CASIA image database containing 1000 color images and medical images respectively. The performance of this proposed method is evaluated using color image and medical image database and measured using average precision, average recall. The experimental result shows this proposed method has accomplished the highest retrieval rate.Keywords

Diabetes is a major health care melancholy issue of contemporary era. In order to control the blood glucose levels and to improve the quality of life, some painless diagnosing method has to be identified, thereby avoiding the complications of present day lancet methods. Although many efforts have been taken by researchers in order to successfully launch a device that measures blood glucose noninvasively, the results seems to be intruded due to the fact that designers mostly concentrate on optical methods which suffer from greater interferences due to the less absorbing property of glucose. Our earlier work investigated a possible method of measuring the Non Invasive Blood Glucose Concentration level (NI-BGC), although results achieved were quite hopeful, it needs further extensive testing and improvement in the design before it can be considered for clinical use. This paper rationalizes a method of using Ultra Violet - Visible Light (UV-VIS) Spectrophotometer for selecting the correct Light Source of proper wavelength, by testing the raw blood sample and artificial Glucose samples - to be employed in the design. This work also draws together readings from two different sensors based on absorption photometry and by averaging the sensor values using embedded technology; a non-invasive glucometer has been modelled to provide a boon for the person hankering to diagnose diabetes.Keywords

Error correction codes are commonly used to protect memories from soft errors, which change the logical value of memory cells without damaging the circuit. As technology scales, memory devices become larger and more powerful error correction codes are needed. Majority logic decoding is efficient technique due to their capability to correct multi number of errors, less time and area consumption. The proposed error-detection and correction is achieved by using 2D parity check, checksum, CRC methods with majority logic decoding. This proposed method is more efficient than the existing method as it reduces the memory access time when there is no error in the data read. This paper introduces optimal utilization of solar photovoltaic array integrated PV-UPQC-S by modified p-q theory based control for clean energy generation along with power quality improvement. UPQC is designed by the integration of series and shunt VSCs sharing a common DC bus capacitor. Voltage disturbance like sag, swell, unbalance and harmonics are being compensated by UPQC along with mitigation of source current harmonics. Series VSC simultaneously delivers active and reactive power using theory of power angle control of UPQC to coordinate load reactive power and hence named as UPQC-S. The fundamental frequency positive sequence (FFPS) components of voltages at PCC are extracted using generalized cascaded delay signal cancellation (GCDSC) technique to generate reference signals using p-q theory based control for the PV-UPQC-S. This helps in control of distorted PCC voltages. The series voltage source converter (VSC) shares a part of the reactive power of the load even under nominal grid conditions, thereby reducing the rating of shunt VSC. The PV array is integrated at the DC-bus of the UPQC, provides a part of active load power thus reducing demand on the supply system. The DC voltage is maintained constant using Fuzzy Logic Controller. The shunt and series reference signals derived from the control algorithm and sensed signals are injected into FLC to generate switching signals. The proposed system can work under multiple disturbance such as irradiation variation, PCC voltage disturbance and harmonics occurring simultaneously. The dynamic performance of modified p-q theory based PV-UPQC-S is verified by simulating the system in Matlab-Simulink with combination of linear and nonlinear loads.

Objectives: Healthcare plays a vital role in every woman for their healthy long life. Government healthcare schemes are very essential to the people who are not availing the facilities offered by private hospitals. Therefore the purpose of the present study is to investigate the impact of promotional campaigns on utilization of government healthcare schemes among rural women in Coimbatore.
Research Methods: 125 women respondents are selected for this study using proportionate stratified random sampling method. Data were collected through questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed with simple percentage, multiple regression and chi-square tests.
Findings/Results: Results revealed that 41.6% of the variance of utilization was explained by the factors of promotional campaigns and demographic variables like type of family, education, occupation and income were significant relationship with utilization of government healthcare schemes.
Conclusion/Recommendations: The government should promote the healthcare schemes through Television for better reach and government should encourage the volunteers like NGO’s, lines club and many welfare associations to promote the government healthcare schemes for better reach and utilization. This study recommends that the government should concentrate more on the promotional campaigns for better utilization of government healthcare schemes by educated low-income women in rural Coimbatore.

Objectives: Nowadays, with the rise of social media, there is possible to get a faster, more talented way of gathering data to persuade investors’ judgements. Hence, this study is trying to analyse the factors, namely Company news, Industry performance, Market updates, Economic factors and Investor sentiment which persuading the social media usage among the equity investors in Coimbatore District, Tami Nadu, India.
Research Methods: For this study, 100 investors who invest in the share market are selected by using stratified proportionate random sampling method. Self designed questionnaire is used to collect the primary data. The collected data has been evaluated with Percentage Analysis, Weighted Average Rank Analysis, Multiple Response Analysis, Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis.
Findings/Results: Out of the five independent variables, Company News, Economic Factors and Investor Sentiment have much influenced the dependent variable Investment decision making as it is statistically significant at the 5% level. Finally, the result of the study shows that social media helps to acquire timely information and gain knowledge which helps to formulate better decision by the investors.
Conclusion/Suggestions: Stock broking firms should take appropriate steps to improve the security system of social media to make investors use it effectively. This study helps the stock broker to make the valuable communication with investors, implementation of innovative technology and to promote other financial products.

Background: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the most prominently used image acquisition method for brain tumor diagnosis, treatment and research. Objective: In this paper, a fuzzy qualitative reasoning model for diagnosing the grade of Astrocytoma brain tumor using various subtypes of MR images (T1, T1c+, T2, Flair) is explained with its implementation details. Methods: The fuzzy model is implemented in 5 stages namely preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction, feature selection and building a Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) for diagnosis. In preprocessing, anisotropic filtering is used to remove noise and artifacts whereas the edge information and smoothness are retained. Then the tumor region is segmented by applying active contour method. From the segmented tumor region, textural and shape features are extracted and stored along with the clinical parameters like age, gender and mass effect of the patient for feature selection. The features are analyzed in different dimensions like image, patient, patient with subtype, to determine the sensitive feature subset and its range that discriminates the grade of the tumor. Based on this outcome a Mamdani based fuzzy qualitative reasoning model is built with optimal rule set for tumor grade diagnosis. Findings: The constructed fuzzy model is validated using real data set of MR images and clinical report of patients. The grade of tumor identified is same as that specified in the patient's report and hence the model provides better accuracy. Novelty: The novelty of this research work are: subtypes of MR images with analysis in different dimensions, identification of optimal rule set (minimum number of rules without ambiguity), recognition of irregular shape tumor, suitable model for any knowledge based diagnosis.References

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Early detection and prevention of cancer plays a very important role in reducing deaths caused by cancer. Ovarian Cancer (OC) is a type of cancer that affects ovaries in women, and is difficult to detect at initial stage due to which it remains as one of the leading causes of cancer death. Identification of genetic and environmental factors is very important in developing novel methods to detect and prevent cancer. This research uses data mining technology such as classification, clustering and prediction to identify potential cancer patients. Therefore a cancer risk prediction system is here proposed which is easy, cost effective and time saving.Keywords

Resistance spot welding (RSW) is used to overcome the issues in fusion welding of DP-1000 steel such as softening in heat affected zone (HAZ), solidification cracking, high thermal residual stresses and distortion. The main objective of this investigation is to develop the empirical relationships to predict the tensile shear fracture load bearing capability of spot joints for automotive applications. The three factor – three level box-behnken design (3X3-BBD) consisting ofless experiments was chosen for developing the experimental matrix. The lap tensile shear fracture load (LAP-TSFL) and cross tensile shear fracture load (CROSS-TSFL) tests were performed to determine the load bearing capability of spot joints. The empirical relationships of LAP-TSFL and CROSS-TSFL of spot joints were developed using polynomial regression equations incorporating the process parameters in coded form. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was executed to check the viability of developed empirical relationships for LAP-TSFL and CROSS-TSFL. The empirical relationship accurately predicted the LAP-TSFL and CROSS-TSFL capability of spot joints with less than 1% error at 95% confidence level.Keywords
