Food plays an important role in attracting tourists to a particular destination because as it reflects a region’s culture and lifestyle. The importance of cuisine can affect the tourist to finalize their final destination. Various type of businesses including farms, food outlets or stores, catering colleges, tour operators, homemade alcohol production units, historical monuments, religious attraction and many business can gain their profit from unique cuisines of that particular region. Culinary of a destination can also be categorized as a part of cultural tourism. Which can be the back bone of tourism that can positively present a destination. Local Food consumption of a particular area can be used for the development of that particular destination image. Also the culinary tourism is required for overall development. This paper focus at the importance of the connection between food and tourism which cannot be ignored from tourism point of view. Each tourist destination of uttarakhand offer different variety of natural beauty that can attract tourist from different countries and various places thus the delicious food of uttarakhand which is also rich in medicinal values as it grow on high altitude and harsh climate can be used as the main attraction and promotional tool for the development of tourism in uttarakhand.Keywords

Uttarakhand is a state located in the Northern Himalayan Region in India and it has been a prime spot of tourism due to its magnificently diverse landscapes, high biodiversity enough religious tourist potential and rich cultural heritage. Tourism has also generated a good source of income and employment to youths and rural masses. Tourism is one of the fastest-growing economic sectors in the global economy. Tourism has significant environmental, cultural, social, and economic effects, both in positive and negative terms. Tourism has been noted as the world’s largest and fastest growing industry. Tourism, as a major service sector industry in state’s economy, has multi-dimensional impacts on the society such as Economic, Social and Cultural, Environmental, Crowding and congestion, Community attitudes, Services and Taxes.
The emergence of Spiritual tourism has given a boost to the tourism industry when we talk about the tourism trends in Uttarakhand region. Although, people used to travel to satisfy their religious beliefs since ages but the concept of Spiritual Tourism is bit different from pilgrimage or religious tourism and can be promoted well as a tremendous tourism product to yield better results in Uttarakhand. Presence of some amazing and unmatched spiritual destination in Uttarakhand, aids to the enhancement and promotion of Spiritual tourism in the state.
The main objectives of the paper is to focus on emerging trends and other aspects of Spiritual tourism that has a direct or indirect impact on Hospitality Industry operating in the region. This paper focuses on the emerging trends of spiritual tourism oriented research activities and explores the potentials for future work in tourism research. This paper is an analysis of the available and relevant literatures in the field of spiritual tourism with special emphasis on the Uttarakhand state of India.This paper will also discuss the challenges and problems that comes in the way in order to introduce new trends to the field of Tourism and Hospitality industry.

Spirituality, in general, has recently emerged as an important subject of research in social and business areas. This has given birth to a new dimension to the tourism industry, called ‘Spiritual tourism’. It has been observed that there has been an increase in the awareness and research interest in the thematic field of spiritual tourism. Tourism is an age old activity associated with civilized nations around the world. Thus, tourism literature too carries a long history along with it. However, there are very few areas in tourism which has been taken through the domain of scientific investigation only recently. Year 2020 started with the one carryover disease presented as atypical pneumonia which was identified as a severe acute respiratory syndrome later termed as COVID-19 and spread all through the globe. Some of the major countries namely America, India, Italy, Spain, China (Spreader Country), France, Britain, and many more experienced unexceptional spread throughout their states because the disease was communicable and can easily be transmitted through contact with the infected person. So, as one of the remedial actions to regulate the transmission most of the countries preferred the lockdown as a key strategy to stop the commutation, guidelines issues for home isolation, and social distancing enforced at all the extent. This lockdown severely affected millions of people and economic sectors, among all the sectors travel, tourism, and hospitality sector affected the most and still looking for its revival because still travel restrictions are on, and travelers or tourist are not preferring to visit tourist destinations because of suspect of its spread from the tourist places. Due to all these, even after unlock guideline released by the government still the hoteliers looking for the paced revival from the economic setbacks observed by them. This research work is a quantitative research work performed on the hoteliers’ opinion for the negative effect on the industry and their business because of travel restrictions in continuous lockdowns and how exactly they are planned for their revival. The research work embraces relevance for all those having concerns with the revival and sustainable development of the industry or sector.Keywords
