Regression Analysis on Factors Influencing Students’ Satisfaction towards Program Courses
Background/Objectives: The aim of this study is to identify the factors that contribute to satisfaction of students studying in a private university college. Methods/Statistical Analysis: A questionnaire was distributed to 209 students from 4 different engineering faculties by using the convenience sampling method. The reliability of the questionnaire was measured first by using correlation analysis and regression analysis to identify the factors. Findings: The dependent variable is student satisfaction, while the independent variable are classroom environment, lecturer/instructor, college facilities and services, program courses and methods of grading. The value of Cronbach's Alpha is greater than 0.6, and all the independent variables are significant except the lecturer/instructor. The final model is 46.8%, which be explained by the independent variable. Applications/Improvements: The factors of students' satisfaction are undoubtedly multifactorial and vary from university to university and vary over time. In addition, students come from different background and may influence their expectation and perception of satisfaction. Understanding these factors could help educational institutions to plan their strategies better and inform academics interested in studying student satisfaction.
