Absorption of a 9.6μm CO2 laser beam by the near-infrared absorption lines of nitrous oxide vapour is studied using the quasi-random model of molecular band absorption. Values of transmittance, computed at intervals of 0.05 cm-1 are obtained for two different absorber thicknesses. The generated absorptance values, which simulate the intensities of the high-resolution absorption lines of nitrous oxidein the wavelength range of 1036-1046 cm-1 are compared with those generated by the line-by-line method.
