A Study of Demand of Dairy Technologists in Kerala Cooperative Dairy Plants

The milk production in the country has increased to around l55.5 million tonnes in the year 2015-16 from a meagre milk production 17 million tonnes in the year 1951. The per capita availability of milk in the country has also increased to 340 g/day. The dairy sector of Kerala is dominated by three main cooperative federations which are TRCMU (Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Ltd), ERCMPU (Ernakulum Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Ltd), MRCMPU (Malabar Regional Co-operative Milk Producers' Union Ltd). The present research study is focused on the study of the existing manpower scenario, estimated demand for the period 2016-17 to 2020-21 and the qualitative aspects related to the demand of daily professionals in Kerala state. The data for the study was collected by using a suitable questionnaire. The obtained data was analyzed for meaningful interpretations. It was concluded that the Kerala dairy sector, is growing and it requires considerable number of dairy professional i.e around 9 per year in the next five years with main qualities of-Practical Knowledge imparted at college. Loyalty with organization, ICT skills.
