Training and Development in the Changing Technological Environment

Internationalization, automation, decentralization of work and decision-making, and intense structural changes characterize the banking scene globally. This changed scenario has significant implications with regard to people management and development. The present case study has been undertaken in the banking context in UK, and seeks to look into the status of training and development in Barclays bank, UK. The study aims to identify the challenges and issues in training and development. The paper also attempts to comprehend the attitude of employees towards computerization in Barclays, UK. The findings of the study reveal that Barclays has well-structured training policy committed to individual, group and organization's development. The employees have been suitably trained for skillful handling of computerized working processes and fair attention is paid on training systems.
