Perioperative Management of the Obese Patient

Obesity is becoming a very common problem in the society and obese patients definitely pose a challenge to the anesthesiologists. The understanding of the pathophysiology of obesity and related problems helps to anesthetize these patients successfully. We herein describe the peri-operative management of a morbidly obese patient with associated co-morbid medical illnesses posted for open reduction and internal fixation of spiral fracture distal third of the femur.
