The objective of this paper is to analyze flow patterns inside canine nasal cavity belonging to different breeds under different environmental conditions using Computational Fluid Dynamic simulation. The specimen of dog's nose and radiograph images available in Chennai Veterinary college, India are used to capture the geometry of three different breeds namely Dolichocephalic (Long headed breed), Mesaticephalic (Medium headed breed) and Brachycephalic (Short headed breed). The physical properties of air, butyric-acid and carbonmonoxide are used for simulating different environments like clean indoor environment, environment crowded with people and highly polluted environment respectively. The flow patterns are studied considering the dorsal view of canine nasal cavity using Finite volume method. Implication of olfaction are visualized. The results of this study can be used in the design of sensors and bio-inspired artificial noses to target a particular environment based on the need.
