Effect of Psychomotor Program on the Problematic Behavior of Children with Developmental Delays
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine and investigate the effects of psychomotor program on problematic behaviors in children with developmental disabilities who are disturbed by daily life problems. And also, this study is to provide basic data to utilize the psychomotor program as the mean to understand the individual problematic behaviors of developmental retarded children and to reduce them. Methods: The subjects of this study were infants who belonged to the A development center in Gyeonggi-do in 2015. Parents, complained about the problematic behavior (attack, attention, anxiety) of their children at the day care center, participated in the program with agreement. This study was designed by applying the A-B-A program among the single subject research design. Attack, attention, and anxiety were selected as target behaviors. Using a camcorder, the baseline, program intervention, and maintenance line were recorded. The frequency of problematic behavior was recorded in the Event Recording Form with the help of two psychomotricians. Findings: Considering that problematic behaviors (attack, attention, and anxiety) are reduced, the results of this study suggest that the psychomotor program for children with developmental retardation has a positive effect on mitigating the problematic behaviors of children with developmental retardation. Improvements: Various studies are needed to reduce the problematic behaviors (attack, attention, anxiety) of children with developmental delay.
