The purpose of this book is to describe various methods for qualitative research and approaches including Emic approach, Inductive approach and Elective approach. Chapter 1, titled Qualitative Research: An Introduction, starts with introducing India, its population and its values. According to the author, a good qualitative research should have a clear purpose marked by predefined approaches to work upon data that is generated during the course of study. In carrying out rich qualitative research the steps to be followed are understanding broad research question, exploration of literature focusing context of study, eliciting human experiences, conscious data collection and churning, interpretation of data and conclusion through evidences. Apart from the section on Meaning of Research, the other sections are too elaborative.
